Abstract
Financial literacy has become a crucial issue in community development, particularly within Muslim societies facing economic vulnerability and consumptive lifestyles among youth. Adolescents represent a strategic group in long-term community empowerment, as their financial behavior will shape future social and economic conditions. This study examines Islamic financial literacy education as a strategy for Islamic community development through a case study at SMP Islam Nurul Falah Boyolangu, Tulungagung. Using a qualitative field research approach oriented toward an educational seminar, data were collected through observations, reflective interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of Islamic financial literacy activities. The findings show that Islamic financial literacy education contributes to students’ awareness of halal financial practices, responsible consumption, saving behavior, and understanding of Islamic social finance instruments such as zakat, infaq, and ṣadaqah. In addition, this educational process fosters values of self-reliance, moderation, social responsibility, and ethical economic behavior rooted in Islamic teachings. The study argues that early Islamic financial education is not merely an effort to build individual financial skills, but a strategic investment in sustainable Islamic community development. By strengthening financial awareness among adolescents, Islamic educational institutions can play an important role in poverty prevention, social welfare improvement, and the formation of economically conscious Muslim communities.
