Strategi Guru dalam Menumbuhkan Minat Membaca Siswa Kelas Rendah melalui Pemanfaatan Sudut Baca: Kajian Literatur

Abstract

Reading interest among lower-grade elementary school students in Indonesia remains a significant concern, as many students prefer digital entertainment over reading. This article examines teacher strategies in fostering reading interest among lower-grade students (grades I–III) through the utilization of reading corners (sudut baca) in the classroom. Using a qualitative literature study method, this article analyzes various relevant theoretical frameworks and findings from previous studies. The analysis reveals that effective teacher strategies include: (1) routine reading habituation before lessons begin; (2) attractive and accessible arrangement of the reading corner; (3) appropriate selection of reading materials suited to the cognitive development of young learners; and (4) providing motivation and rewards for students who actively use the reading corner. This article concludes that teacher strategies in utilizing reading corners are key factors in cultivating reading interest from an early age, and recommends that schools and teachers continuously innovate in managing reading corners to support the national school literacy movement.
